Expect The Unexpected

•April 7, 2009 • 1 Comment

You know when everything has fallen into the right place and you have finally found peace at where you are but then life throws you a curve ball and then bam, something or someone comes in your life to make it more complicated. This past weekend I got an unexpected call from a guy I started talking to about 2 years ago, the one who couldn’t decide whether he wanted a relationship with me or not, haven’t heard from him in two or three months before then. We ended up talking for almost 3 hours on the phone about how much time has passed since we’ve seen each other and how long we’ve been friends, etc. I have no clue on what he wants in life and whether I am going to be apart of it and if I am, what kind of level will it be because this girl don’t do friends with benefits, if he don’t know now, I will make it clear to him. Let me know now so I won’t be wasting any more time than I need to be.

Kanye West on Chris Brown: “Give Him a Break”

•February 28, 2009 • Leave a Comment

According to Yahoo.com’s music section, Kanye West talked about the R&B singer during his show “Storytellers” which airs on VH1, he had this to say about the young chart-topping artist:

West asked the crowd, “Can’t we give Chris a break? … I know I make mistakes in life.” He was referring to R&B singer Chris Brown, who was arrested on the night of the Grammys on suspicion of beating his girlfriend Rihanna.

Yes everyone does make mistakes and you have to learn to forgive but that doesn’t mean people are going to forget about it. Domestic Violence is a serious issue and if we gave him a break, that gives license to think that it is okay to hit a woman and it’s not, but that is for the court to decide.

Reports say that the couple has reunited in Miami, so who really knows what happened and what will happen. Everyone who breaks the law, should go through the same process that everyone else does but people do make mistakes and forgiveness is God’s way so I guess if Rihanna can deal with it, then I guess we should learn to forgive but that doesn’t mean we have to forget it.

He Claims It Was Self-Defense…

The latest news in the Chris Brown/Rihanna case is that now that he is claiming it was self-defense. Reports that Rihanna threw a phone at him and he felt he had to protect himself. What kind of bullshit is this?! No matter what she does to you, no man has the right to hit a woman for any reason. I, myself have witnessed domestic violence, and this hit me on so many levels. This is a serious issue. Seems to me like he needs a reality check and grow up. Don’t make it what it isn’t because the truth will come out. Rihanna, I hope you are doing well and stay positive.

Brooksville, Florida (10Connects) – The Hernando County, Florida Sheriff’s Office says they arrested a Brooksville woman for giving an unwanted hug to her boyfriend.

Deputies say they responded to the home of Lori Smith and Kevin Connelly shortly after midnight Monday.

When they got there, deputies say Lori told them she tried to hug Kevin twice; however, he pushed her away because he did not wish to be hugged.

Kevin claims Lori grabbed him several times, so he threw her on the bed to get away from her.

Deputies say due to the fact Kevin did not wish to be touched and Lori continued to hug him, she was taken into custody for one count of domestic battery.

If You Could Have One Superpower….

Everyone dreams of having supernatural powers once in awhile. To have the ability to do something no normal person could do, to be one of a kind, to be extraordinary, would be amazing.

Invisibility would be one of the ones I would choose because you can be heard and not seen. You could do anything you wanted without anyone noticing you were there. I would play jokes on people with this power.

Super strength, to be able to lift any and everything, break through things without making an effort to. I wouldn’t want this power, what if I hurt an innocent person.

The ability to stretch any part of your body is cool but it looks kind of gross so that would be a no-no for me.

To burst into flames is great, that would be another superpower I would have, to set stuff on fire would be awesome.

Obviously I have been watching too much Fantastic Four. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

The Past Always Finds A Way Back to You

Yesterday, a girl from my old neighborhood starting talking on facebook chat. I asked her what happened since I left and this was about 11 years ago, she told me that one of the kids that we grew up with, had been shot and killed this past year. It hit me like…OMG. She said he died during a fight. She now has a 2 year old and has been moved out of that neighborhood which is now probably gang infested, and she graduated from high school. I thought I would never go back there, mentally or physically, but looks like I was wrong.

Have We Truly Evolved As A Nation?

I raise this question after people are criticizing U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. In his speech, which you can find on my sister Alix’s blog, states that when it comes to racial issues, we are a nation of cowards. Some might disagree with that statement but in fact he is being truthful. Sure, we elected Barack Obama as our first African American President, our first step in change, but the issue of race is always there. Until we learn to acknowledge this issue, it will continue to be that. We are a diverse country. If we talked about it as much as we talk about equal rights, AIDS, teen pregnancy, obesity, depression, etc., then it wouldn’t be swept under the rug and pretend that the issue isn’t there.

Sisters, Hmm What To Say About Them?

•February 20, 2009 • 1 Comment

I think all sisters are different in some ways. Some you can tell them your biggest secret without being criticized, some of them you can go shopping with and hang out with, some of them you can spend hours on the phone with talking about nothing. Me and my sister get along great,at least I think so lol! She is there to give me advice, help me with my schoolwork, call me out in front of people, it is sibling harmony. Growing up, we did share a room. She is older than me so she would kick me out of the room when her friends came over but her friends were nice to me. She acts like she didn’t want me but I know different, hehe! Sisters have a bond and it can be tested at times but through thick and thin, your blood should have your back, no matter what kind of bullshit you got yourself into!

Public Speaking in Classrooms

•February 19, 2009 • 3 Comments

No one likes getting in front of their classmates or anyone to talk about anything. I have to do an oral presentation for business and do it from an outline, this is terrifying to me and I hate it. I wish they did away with it.
